Summer Concert Season: A Preview
Back on track today with a preview of the shows I'll be attending this summer...
Atlanta will be hosting both Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi within a week, I will be at both shows. I have seen Bruce once before, in 2002 on The Rising Tour. Comparing the setlists from that tour to his current Magic Tour is almost like comparing apples and oranges. Pretty much a completely different set list. Lot of new stuff from Magic and a lot of really old stuff from the early records. The show will once again be in Phillips Arena, I look forward to reviewing this show and seeing Springsteen rock ATL once again.
Bon Jovi will also be playing Phillips Arena this summer. I have seen Jovi twice, once in Phillips Arena, and once in the Gwinnett Center (both in the atl area). The stuff they have been playing on the Lost Highway Tour looks to be extremely promising. I saw them on the Crush Tour and the Have A Nice Day Tour and they seem to be taking the best parts from those tours and putting them together for this current tour. Hidden gems like "Blood on Blood" and "I'd Die For You" keep sneaking into their hit filled set list. So it goes without saying I will be looking forward to their show in Phillips Arena.
Bon Jovi will be accompanied by Daughtry. Saw this group last year and wasn't impressed really. Hopefully they will do better in an arena setting than an outside show on the river.
There is a possibility I will have the chance to see Jovi in Nashville at the Sommet Center as well. I've been to the Sommet Center for one show (Billy Joel) and would jump at the chance to see Jovi twice in one concert season. Fingers crossed...
My town of Knoxville is also hosting a concert for me to see, as Lifehouse will be performing at the Valarium here in town. They are accompianied by two other bands that I can't recall right now. I am on edge about this show, The Valarium is a different type of venue, it's more like a club actually. Should be an interesting experience. I'm not a huge Lifehouse fan, but I look forward to the show.
Rumours are running rampant apparently that Kenny Chesney may play a bar show for his Keg In The Closet bar tour here in Knoxville. My fingers are crossed for this one too, hell, I think I would drive to Nashville to see that show if need be.
Last but not least on the schedule is the annual Chattanooga festival of Riverbend. The main acts I want to see are The Black Crowes (opening the festival) and ZZ Top (thurs). Both put on great shows and I can't wait to watch them live.
Related side note, I will finally get to visit the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame this summer, basically a dream come true. Thanks to the Moore family for letting me tag along.
Summer Concert Schedule
April 11th- Lifehouse in Knoxville
April 25th- Bruce Springsteen in Atlanta
April 26- Bon Jovi in Nashville???????
May 1st- Bon Jovi in Atlanta (with Daughtry)
Riverbend Line Up- The Black Crowes, America, Josh Turner, ZZ Top (There are others but I'll probably only see these)
Wish I could see Tom Petty, The Eagles, and Jimmy Buffet too, but as you can see I have spent all my money... but you won't see me complaining
Just some thoughts......
