"Do Your Best Jagger!"

Anybody who knows anything about The Rollings Stones know that Mick Jagger is one of the craziest frontmen when on stage. He dances, wiggles, and struts across stage in the most peculiar yet completely entertaining way. His unusual movement when performing has now become the premise for the most funny competition I've been a part of in a long time.

It all began one night when I returned to my dorm after work. My good friend Erich, who we refer to as Rosey, had sent me a video from CollegeHumour.Com that showed two guys in a competition doing their best Jagger impersonations. The video showcased the "Jagg Off" in such a manner that Mike, Rosey, and I started telling each other to do our best Jagger's.

Well the idea has stuck and now our game is official. Rules have been implemented and a Facebook group has been made. The game is on. We added one more competitor, Amanda Gutman, a friend that is also a student here in Knoxville. And since the regulations have been set in stone, hilarity has ensued...

I made Mike do his best Jagger in the middle of Wal-Mart, it was great. I woke him up early Saturday morning when preparing for work and made him do his best Jagger. Mike was forced to impersonate Mick in front of complete strangers while ripsticking one day, I mean it has constantly been funny. Rosey has smarted off and I have forced him to do his best Jagger.

I have had to do my share of my Jaggers too. Amanda made me do it in front of a classroom of engineering students I had never met. I have been forced to do it many times in my dorm when I was busy too. The competition is ruthless.

The penalty for refusing to do your "Jagger" is quite painful. I'll leave it at that.

Needless to say, I will post more "Jagger" stories in the future.

Jimmy Buffett Makes Landfall in Nashville

The call came in before my California trip: Jimmy Buffett live in Nashville. Now I have tried before to get Buffett tickets, but I have never been successful. But this time was different. My aunt Jamie and I were finally going to see Jimmy Buffett… But this was no ordinary concert weekend, I drove into Nashville just as the biggest rainfall in over 30 years hit the city. I-40 was flooded; cars were underwater; businesses were closing; trailers were floating down highways; and I was in full parrot head gear making my way into downtown Nashville. Jamie commented that Broadway looked like Key West despite the weather. The parrot heads did not let the rain or floods keep them away. Nickelback Burns Nashville To The Ground

Well I started this year off with a bang, opening night of Nickelback's Dark Horse 2009 tour in Nashville, TN. Mike, Status, and I made the drive and joined my Aunt Jamie as well as my parents, brother, and his girlfriend to check out an awesome show. The bill was Nickelback featuring Seether and Saving Abel, and so after a nice dinner, we entered the show... Came into Saving Abel's set during what I believe was the second song. They sounded pretty good, wasn't overly impressed, but no complaints about them. Their short set was capped off by their huge hit “Addicted,” which sounded really good live. What can I say about Seether... They were loud. Heavy. Distorted. Metal. These guys need to be in a smaller venue. The lights would have worked better there and the style of music needs a general admission mosh pit to really work, not a huge arena that was nearly sold out.
