The Kid in You
So I had to do this project where I was required to write a short 500 word range story where I imitate an author. I chose Dr. Suess, a favorite of mine from my early childhood. Here is the story I came up with...
THE KID IN YOU
Adults, parents, and grown ups, come gather 'round.
For I have a thing for you that will knock you to the ground.
I searched far and wide and found this thing.
The thing you have been missing is what I will bring.
So come to me and be prepared to change.
For you will be shocked on the largest range.
Ladies and gentlemen, women and men, I present to you something young and true.
I give you the one and only kid in you.
Have you forgotten about this part of yourself?
Did you leave him alone on your bedroom shelf?
Do you remember the fun you had?
Can you recall being happy and glad?
This small child is here to help you rediscover,
the younger you that you have left under the cover.
So who shall be the first to meet their inner kid?
Who's childhood wishes shall I grant and problems I rid?
You sir, the one with tie and uncomfortable smile.
Come see the you that has been dreaming to see the light for a long, long while.
Tell me sir, please fill me in.
Where does the young man inside you wish to begin?
How 'bout we have some fun?
Let's regain what adults lose when they think their childhood is done.
Let's run around and scream and shout!
That's it! Jump, yell, and skip all about!
Sing those songs that bring you back.
Do those things that get you back on track.
Close your eyes and remember the you,
that was able to do everything you wanted to do.
Now onto someone new.
How 'bout the older lady between you two?
56 is your age you say?
You're to old to find your inner kid today?
Rubbish, nonsense, I've never seen such a sight!
You're never to old to find that innocent light!
Come up here, let me show you someone.
Look at this person, do you remember this, hon?
This is the little girl you tried to hide.
This is the kid in you who's ready to ride.
There's that laugh that you've missed.
Doesn't it feel good to be happy to exist?
Now embrace this new lifestyle and the inner kid you have found.
Never let her go and see your life become even more profound!
Now everybody just stand and see!
Speak to yourself, say I've found me!
Say it's okay to grow up and take care of life.
But don't forget about the kid that helps you with strife.
When things seem bad and and you don't know where to begin.
Well that's the time to revisit the kid in you again!
Take some time out of your day,
to just break free with your kid and say hey!
I guarantee you'll never regret,
letting the kid in you break your sweat.
So now I will leave you with this new discovery.
Hopefully it will take affect in a hurry.
Being an adult doesn't have to be lame.
In fact the child in you can turn it into a game.
So put this note in your sack,
